DESIGNER TODAY HAS TO BE A TECHNOLOGIST TOO

“A modern designer is not only a creative person, but also a technologist” – was confirmed by the students of the Faculty of Design and Advertising of KNUCA on Friday, December 15, during their educational excursion to IMMER Ukrplastic, the largest manufacturer for production of flexible packaging.

During the excursion, the students of KNUCA visited different production sectors of the plant, including flexo printing and rotogravure printing facilities. They also got acquainted with the work of the IMMER Ukrplastic Design Studio, where they were watching with great interest the process of developing and preparing the design for printing. Future specialists were impressed by the set of technologies used by a modern designer.

The freshmen found that the designer had to take into account a number of parameters in his work to get a quality packaging design: unique features of the material, its color space, type of printing, inks and others. That kind of approach convinced the students that the success of a designer depends not only on his creativity, but also on the understanding of the technologies capable of implementing it as effectively as possible.

An educational tour had finished in the marketing department, where the students were told about the development of a flexible packaging industry, packaging design and its role in modern world.

Educational excursions to the production site of IMMER Ukrplastic are a part of the program of social responsibility and take place within the framework of the strategic partnership of the Company with higher educational institutions of Ukraine.
